WHY IS IT WORTH IT?

Our news journalism and the art of anchor course will prepare you to work with microphone and in front of the camera, in newsrooms, radio and tv news agencies.
Online journalism and network marketing course fits into the new model of journalism where Internet is used to a greater extent. Finishing this course will enable you to work as an Internet advertising specialist and manage web portals and online shops.

STAFF

We gain knowledge beside notable academic teachers, experts in journalism, knowledge of media and political communication. We put effort on workshops teaching press, TV and radio journalism. We offer opportunity to attend lectures of specialists from renowned foreign universities. Our guests were, among others, prof. Erich Mc Luhan from the University of Toronto and dr Monica Herrero University of Navarra.

Advertising in Information Society

  • Description: This class is designed to introduce you to the ways in which advertising influences and is influenced by Information Society. In this class we will consider economic, legal & regulatory, ethical, and social issues that surround advertising. We will look at both intended and unintended effects of advertising on Information Society. For example, we will address such issues as the history of advertising, regulation of advertising, and how advertising impacts our economy, our culture, perceptions of various groups within society, children and adolescents, health and risk behaviors, and politics.
English for Media Studies

  • Description: The study of English plays a crucial role in education and society. In our College we are passionate about providing a high quality education which will teach pupils to speak and write fluently so that they can communicate their ideas and emotions to others, and through their reading and listening, others can communicate with them. Our experienced and creative teaching team work hard to foster a love of language and to ensure that, through literature in particular, pupils have a chance to develop culturally, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually.
European Integration

  • Description: European integration is the most important process that has taken place on the continent since the end of World War II. The aim of the course is to present not only the most important events in the history of European integration, but also to learn aspects such as European Union law, internal organs and EU symbols.
International relations

  • Description: The aim of the course is not only familiar with the classical theories of foreign policy and international relations. But also a critical analysis of the current political situation in the world. A student who reads books and scholarly articles will be able to distinguish between the international and the internal. It will also be able to use professional terminology and gain the ability to understand the world.
Journalism Genres Press
  • Semester: Winter

  • Description: Students will be introduced to the compositional, formal and content determinants of particular genres and varieties of journalistic expression, as well as the work of selected classics of journalism. Much emphasis will also be placed on language issues related to the implementation of specific journalistic genres. Theoretical knowledge, which he will acquire, will serve him to improve the journalist’s workshop.
Media in Political Marketing

  • Description: Overview of the main features of the media system as a forum for public debate, will serve to illustrate the role of the media in creating the image of politicians and their responsibilities during election campaigns. In this context, the guarantees of freedom of expression and access to the media of the state and political authorities will be discussed. Another goal of the course is to familiarize students with the theoretical foundations and manipulation skills in diagnosing techniques of persuasion and manipulation in social life. In the course of practical exercises and reflection, students develop the ability to recognize the manipulation of media, politics and business and private life, the ability to not handle such manipulations and to develop an attitude open to critical analysis of reality.

  • Description: As part of the classes, students will learn how to research production, reception and media effects. The basics of social research methodology as well as methods of researching the press, radio, television, film and the internet will be presented, both in Poland and in the world. In class, students will learn examples of research conducted and with methodological details – observation, secondary research, ethnography, questionnaire, interview, focus, content analysis.
Press workshops

  • Description: Press workshops are run by journalism specialists. The purpose of the workshop is to familiarize participants with the basic forms of journalism that are widely used. Participants will learn about forms such as mentions, notes, reviews, press articles, etc. After the workshop series, participants will learn practical skills related to the development of diverse forms of journalistic writing.
TV workshops

  • Description: The classes are designed to familiarize students with the technology used in television journalism. During the course participants have the opportunity to work with the camera and learn the rules of the framing and lighting plans. Mastering the practice of using basic operator equipment gives participants the ability to create their own footage. Participants will also be able to see the possibilities offered by film editing software.
Polish for Foreigners

  • Description: Getting acquainted with the rules of spelling, pronunciation and grammar of Polish language for foreign language students is important. Language is an inherent part of the culture of a given country. Understanding the basic principles of communication in Polish will allow us to better understand the culture and customs of Poland. Classes will be taught in the form of a lecture. The classes will allow you to train your language skills.
Diplomatic protocol

  • Description:
    • Course Objectives: To provide a comprehensive study of the legal and practical aspects of diplomatic protocol and immunities in order to enable the student to avoid common mistakes and to be prepared to quickly function as a seasoned professional diplomat.
    • Course Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, the student is expected to able to:
      • cite relevant articles of the Vienna conventions
      • act in accordance with protocol and etiquette guidelines
      • avoid social “red flags” and diplomatic “faux pas”
      • understand and discuss the meaning and limitations of diplomatic immunity

  • Description: The student has sufficient general knowledge, know the grammatical structures, phraseology and vocabulary to understand the texts of a general nature, describing the contemporary economic and social phenomena, academically, and the scope of the studied field of study and allow for quite fluid and spontaneous communication in an academic environment and professional. He has knowledge of current events and phenomena in the contemporary world and the work environment.
Radio and Drama Workshop

  • Description: The workshops are addressed to students who want to develop their ideas for radio drama, through intensive practical work-script writing, listening to different radio drama styles, acting and recording own plays with the emphasis on proper British English pronunciation.

  • Description: The aim of the course is to discuss the problems of the contemporary world, in the context of the current threats to world order. The methods and actions taken by different participants in international relations to solve problems at international level will also be presented. The course is designed to develop students’ knowledge in the field of international relations, with emphasis on the existing problems. After completing the classes, students should be able to gain knowledge of the main problems of the modern world, including knowledge of international security, challenges such as international terrorism, organized international crime, international disputes and conflicts, democratization as a global phenomenon, integration and disintegration processes in the modern world, and the issue of sovereignty in global conditions.
Polish Culture

  • Description: The aim of the course is to familiarize the student with the basics of Polish history, tradition and culture. The student will learn the key aspects of Polish culture. The student will also have the opportunity to see the greatest works of art, architecture and listen to traditional music themes.

  • ECTS: 6
  • Description: This course aims is a program devoted to bringing history to the airwaves, to the Internet, and to the streets — in essence, to make historical thinking a larger part of human life and discourse. More specifically, it is designed to train graduate and advanced undergraduate students in the use of radio and radio technologies to communicate historical ideas to broad audiences — and to do it in a way that does not dilute or oversimplify the work of serious historians. This necessarily involves detailed research (in both textual and audio sources), discussion of script writing and editing, and technical instruction in the art of production.

  • Description: This course offers an overview of the main theories, concepts and empirical approaches to the subject of political communication in democratic nations. The course starts with a review of the main theoretical and empirical studies covering issues such as the modalities of political campaign and communication, the role of the media in these processes and the campaign/media effects on public opinion. The key concepts to be explored and critically discussed are mediatization of politics, media systems, freedom and pluralism, journalist professionalization and information quality, campaign modernalization, campaign professionalization, permanent campaigning, persuasion, conversion, mobilization, learning effects, agenda-setting, priming framing, and others. The course ends with a discussion of the main challenges to political communication in the 21st century.
