WHY IS IT WORTH IT?

First grade studies of Political Science allow gaining complex knowledge, teach interpreting complicated political phenomena and processes as well as provide practical skills necessary in political scientist’s work.

STAFF

We learn beside academic teachers, politicians, experts in political communication and journalists, who share both their reliable knowledge and great practical skills. We also have an opportunity to attend lectures of foreign politicians.

BENEFITS

We prepare professionally during interesting apprenticeships and probations (Polish Sejm, deputies’ offices, local government institutions).

FUTURE

CSCM leavers work in state and local administration, in political parties, in deputies’ offices, as deputies and euro- parliamentarian’s assistants, in social and economic organisations in Poland and abroad, as press, radio and TV journalists as well as political marketing and public relations experts.

Advertising in Information Society

  • Description: This class is designed to introduce you to the ways in which advertising influences and is influenced by Information Society. In this class we will consider economic, legal & regulatory, ethical, and social issues that surround advertising. We will look at both intended and unintended effects of advertising on Information Society. For example, we will address such issues as the history of advertising, regulation of advertising, and how advertising impacts our economy, our culture, perceptions of various groups within society, children and adolescents, health and risk behaviors, and politics.

  • Description: The student has sufficient general knowledge, know the grammatical structures, phraseology and vocabulary to understand the texts of a general nature, describing the contemporary economic and social phenomena, academically, and the scope of the studied field of study and allow for quite fluid and spontaneous communication in an academic environment and professional. He has knowledge of current events and phenomena in the contemporary world and the work environment.
Ethics for Politics

  • Description: The aim of the course is to learn the most important issues of ethics and, above all, business and political ethics and the relationship between ethics, business and politics. This main purpose is implemented in three parts. Firstly, lecture systematize the knowledge of students about the specifics of ethics as a science, which has its own object of study, methodology, theoretical approaches. In the second part, following the presentation of business and political ethics, as part of social ethics, which includes its scientific reflection widely understood policy area, and therefore political behavior, institutions and ideas. The third is devoted to the ethical analysis of selected issues of the inner and international business and political life, in which numerous questions and dilemmas of a moral nature arise.
European Integration

  • Description: European integration is the most important process that has taken place on the continent since the end of World War II. The aim of the course is to present not only the most important events in the history of European integration, but also to learn aspects such as European Union law, internal organs and EU symbols.
International relations

  • Description: The aim of the course is not only familiar with the classical theories of foreign policy and international relations. But also a critical analysis of the current political situation in the world. A student who reads books and scholarly articles will be able to distinguish between the international and the internal. It will also be able to use professional terminology and gain the ability to understand the world.
Media in Political Marketing

  • Description: Overview of the main features of the media system as a forum for public debate, will serve to illustrate the role of the media in creating the image of politicians and their responsibilities during election campaigns. In this context, the guarantees of freedom of expression and access to the media of the state and political authorities will be discussed. Another goal of the course is to familiarize students with the theoretical foundations and manipulation skills in diagnosing techniques of persuasion and manipulation in social life. In the course of practical exercises and reflection, students develop the ability to recognize the manipulation of media, politics and business and private life, the ability to not handle such manipulations and to develop an attitude open to critical analysis of reality.

  • Description: The main aim of the subject is to present classical theories that show geography as a key factor influencing political decision making. The most important theories in political geography will be used to present contemporary geopolitical and geo-strategic tendencies in the world. In addition, the most important problems of the contemporary world will be analyzed in the context of boundaries, climate or natural resources.

  • Description: The aim of education is to carefully provide theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for the free use of skills in the field of diplomatic protocol and diplomatic correspondence in professional and everyday life. It is about transferring the universal message of protocol standards and good manners.
Polish for Foreigners

  • Description: Getting acquainted with the rules of spelling, pronunciation and grammar of Polish language for foreign language students is important. Language is an inherent part of the culture of a given country. Understanding the basic principles of communication in Polish will allow us to better understand the culture and customs of Poland. Classes will be taught in the form of a lecture. The classes will allow you to train your language skills.
Political Systems

  • Description: During the classes students will learn about the conceptual grid which is needed to understand the basic elements of the political systems in the world. The aim of the course is to understand the relationships that exist between the executive, legislative and judicial authorities, with a significant influence of the existing party system and the conscious participation of the civil society. In addition, the analysis of sources in the form of the constitutions of world countries will allow students to understand that the basic laws are written in simple language and do not need to be afraid of them.
Contemporary Conflicts

  • Description: Lecturer is designed to introduce students to the problems existing conflicts today. In addition to presenting the most important conflict areas existing in the past, a student will be familiar with the new problems resulting from the appearance of scars. Not only is armed conflict a problem of the modern world. Also religious, ethnic, social, cyber conflicts are global threats.

  • Description: The course investigates the sources one can take into consideration while acquiring political information. This information is substantial for actions, we can designate the political ones. In order to acquire information properly we need to understand basic concepts like: what is politics?, What is information? What kind of human action one can call a political one? What types of information leads to political actions? What means are used to acquire the information? What are the consequences of adopting certain view of this information and who is a stakeholder in the process?
    Answer to those questions shall allow politician, political theorists and citizens to more consciously get involve it his kind of actions and make more accurate evaluations of political phenomena.

The Global Problems

  • Description: The aim of the course is to discuss the problems of the contemporary world, in the context of the current threats to world order. The methods and actions taken by different participants in international relations to solve problems at international level will also be presented. The course is designed to develop students’ knowledge in the field of international relations, with emphasis on the existing problems. After completing the classes, students should be able to gain knowledge of the main problems of the modern world, including knowledge of international security, challenges such as international terrorism, organized international crime, international disputes and conflicts, democratization as a global phenomenon, integration and disintegration processes in the modern world, and the issue of sovereignty in global conditions.

  • Description: The aim of the course is to familiarize the student with the basics of Polish history, tradition and culture. The student will learn the key aspects of Polish culture. The student will also have the opportunity to see the greatest works of art, architecture and listen to traditional music themes.
Political Communication

  • Description: This course offers an overview of the main theories, concepts and empirical approaches to the subject of political communication in democratic nations. The course starts with a review of the main theoretical and empirical studies covering issues such as the modalities of political campaign and communication, the role of the media in these processes and the campaign/media effects on public opinion. The key concepts to be explored and critically discussed are mediatization of politics, media systems, freedom and pluralism, journalist professionalization and information quality, campaign modernalization, campaign professionalization, permanent campaigning, persuasion, conversion, mobilization, learning effects, agenda-setting, priming framing, and others. The course ends with a discussion of the main challenges to political communication in the 21st century.
