Good Evening Theatre
The University of Social and Media Culture in Toruń boasts an activity of student’s Good Evening Theatre led by the priest and lecturer of our School Fr Dariusz Drążek CSsR. The Theatre aims at cultivation of word culture and heritage of Polish and foreign literature. It gives students an opportunity to extend their knowledge and sensibility but also acquire skills of controlling stress and motion.
In the Theatre repertoire you can find plays written by masters of Polish poetry and drama, e.g.: Zbigniew Herbert, Aleksander Fredo or Sławomir Mrożek. Actors from Good Evening Theatre also had a chance to take part in “Romeo and Juliet”, a well-known William Shakespeare’s masterpiece.
The plays are not only shown in our University but also during many other cultural events. Some are recorded by radio and television.
In the University offer you can find journalistic and theatrical workshop led by devoted and professional actors. This academic year, during Foreign Languages Days, we had a pleasure to welcome Roger Williams, a Cambridge alumnus in history and music and Queen Elisabeth’s II special adviser on education. As a well-known and experienced actor he ran theatrical workshop for the students.
In Good Evening Theatre every student of Polish or other nationality can find out how fantastic it feels to be an actor.

CHOIR

Academic choir
The choir of the University of Social and Media Culture operates since the academic year 2008/2009. The choir performs during the University academic events, such as the inauguration of the academic year, symposia and scientific conferences, retreats, Polonia Forum and occasional meetings.
In addition, the choir represented the University during the annual pilgrimage of the academic community to the Shrine of Our Lady of Jasna Góra in Częstochowa, and the Sanctuary of St. Joseph in Kalisz. In the Kalisz Culture Hall the singers also took part in a meeting with MEPs. They also participated in national workshops of liturgical music.
The choristers prepare a musical setting of academic services and Masses. They get invited for guest performances in other centres in Warsaw and Kalisz. Every year they participate in the anniversary celebrations of Radio Maryja in Torun.
The activities of the choir also includes travelling abroad, which combines sightseeing and recreational values with the possibility to present the achievements of the choir. So far the choir represented the University in Brussels and in June 2011 it performed in Strasbourg.
Our repertoire includes hymns and patriotic and occasional songs as well as pieces by such composers as M. Gomółka, G.B. Pergolesi, A. Lotti, W..A. Mozart, C. Franck, H..M. Górecki and P. M. Mills.
At the beginning of each academic year we organize the recruitment of new members to our choir. We invite everyone who has ear for music. Acting in our choir you can help develop your musical talents.
